Turning ‘Roar’ Reporters into Mobile Journalists

In 2020 Moore’s Lore was hired to consult on its Media Empowerment for a Democratic Sri Lanka programme, better know as MEND. We were paired with two media outlets in Sri Lanka to develop strategies for new media production and monetisation and provide the training to upskill the teams.
Unfortunately we were cut off by the unexpected arrival of Covid-19 but Neal did have the chance to run a Mobile Journalism workshop for the reporters at Sri Lanka’s fastest growing new media startup Roar Media.
The workshop educates participants in how to turn their smartphones into complete production facilities for shooting & editing news stories. It deeps dives into apps and accessories that augment the existing capabilities of the smartphone as well as demonstrating techniques for getting great interviews, vox-pops and b-roll.
